Eleven rooms above the water
Breakfast until eleven. The sea is two minutes down the steps, and nobody minds if you swim first.
The house
A 1930s bungalow that was falling into the garden, rebuilt slowly and without hurry
We kept the teak, the tiled floors and the long verandah it is named after. Everything else — the kitchen, the plumbing, the roof — is new and quiet.
